Research and quality standards

What is tested, what the numbers mean, and what is not tested. The limits are stated as plainly as the capabilities — a specification is only useful if its edges are known.
Classification, before anything else
Everything in this catalogue is supplied for laboratory research use only. It is not authorised by Health Canada, carries no approved indication, and is not for human or veterinary consumption. That is a regulatory classification, not a disclaimer bolted onto the end of a sales page.
What is measured
Material is independently assayed for purity and identity before it is listed. Purity is determined by reverse-phase HPLC; identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry. The two answer different questions — one counts how much of the sample is the main peak, the other checks the peak is the molecule it is supposed to be. A clean chromatogram on the wrong compound is still clean.
What a purity figure does not mean
Published purity figures are HPLC purity, which is a peak-area ratio. They are not net peptide content. Counterion, residual moisture and salt all contribute mass that a 214–220 nm chromatogram does not see, and on some peptides that fraction is not small.
A figure quoted without its method is an adjective. Every number on this site should travel with the method that produced it, and where the product page states a figure without naming the method, the method is the one described here.
What is not tested, and not claimed
Aurum does not perform or claim sterility testing, endotoxin testing or pyrogen testing. No material here is represented as sterile or as suitable for any application that would require it.
Nor is any stability, potency or shelf-life claim made beyond the storage guidance on each product page. Where a limit is not stated, it has not been measured — and the absence of a claim should be read as exactly that, rather than as an implied one.
Blends
A blend vial states a composition — the masses it was formulated to contain — and a purity figure that describes its components. Neither is a content assay of an individual finished vial, and the specification does not describe one.
How material is handled
Supplied lyophilized in sealed vials. Dryness, not refrigeration, is what protects a lyophilized peptide in transit; steady ambient across a normal shipping window is a mild environment, and repeated temperature cycling is harder on material than a single warm day. Storage guidance is stated per product.
How the journal cites
Research notes describe what published literature examined, and in which model — cell, animal, or human. “Studied for” is a statement about what was investigated, never about outcome, benefit or use, and it does not rank one compound against another.
Citations point at real papers. A PubMed identifier is published only where it has been verified to resolve to that exact paper; where it could not be, the citation carries the title alone rather than an identifier that looks authoritative and is wrong.
Corrections
If anything on this site is inaccurate — a figure, a citation, a specification — email us and it will be corrected or removed. Pages have been retired for this reason before.
